As stated, those who suffer from bipolar disorder will display a range of emotions from one side of the spectrum to the other. Opposite of the major depressive episode is the Manic Episode.
Manic is not a disorder itself, but it is part of other disorders including that of bipolar disorder. Manic is not necessarily a term that showcases a loss of their mind, as many believe. In fact, it can be a condition that causes those around the individual to feel as if they have “snapped out of it” and are on the road to recovery. This is not the case, though.
Those who suffer from manic bipolar symptoms will exhibit any of the following characteristics.:
- A period of an elated mood
- A period of an expansive mood
- A period where the individual is notably irritated
- This period should last for at least one week at a time
Those who face this condition will usually experience problems or difficulty in several areas of their life. For example, they will be negatively impacted in their social life as well as their employment or schooling. What’s more, manic episodes should not be the result of any type of mood altering drug including prescription and illegal drugs, alcohol or other substances. The condition must be caused by a medical condition.
Those who suffer from either manic episodes or major depressive episodes will move from one extreme to the other. It can be a very terrifying experience not only for the person who is going through it, but also fro the family who is struggling to help the individual who is so moody. Anyone who is suffering from this type of massive mood alternating conditions should seek out the help of a professional as soon as possible. Both extremes can cause the individual to hurt themselves or others.
The bipolar symptoms listed here are only the first point in getting help. The fact is that nearly all patients face their own symptoms that are usually different from those of others. For this reason, any deviation from standard “moods” to extreme levels like this should be taken seriously! Bipolar symptoms are essential calls for help that need to be properly taken care of. Left untreated, these conditions can worsen and over time it can lead to a wide range of health problems and even threaten the individual’s life and well being. Those who have family members they believe to be suffering from this or other conditions should seek out the help of their doctors as soon as possible. Bipolar symptoms are very serious and very much something that can not be handled on your own.
